Life on Canvas
Life on canvas is a series of stories taken from my life journey juxtaposes with artistic elements that stimulates interest, inspires motivation and encourages action. This book has powerful life lessons on how to change ones perspective and transform a bare canvas (life) into a painting of new and picturesque outcomes. The motivational strokes woven throughout the book will encourage and inspire the reader and provides a desire to reframe life’s challenges, find solutions, and encourages one to be true to their life purpose. Each chapter in the book is a layer of a painting of my life, as you read, your creative imagination will allow you to see the world through my eyes, and recreate the elements using lines, colour, emotions, tints and shades. In doing this, you too will introspect through the stories to envision a panoramic view of your life, if you add a stroke of creativity, passion, perseverance and persistent
About the Author
Shawn Ashman attended the Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts in 2005, and since then, has used her business acumen to develop art-related goods and services. She is also a national mentor in Jamaica and mentor students from her Alma Mata. Her 2016 fine art collection: “Ascension a Matter of Perspective,” was featured in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the Nova Southeastern University’s gallery during Black History Month 2016. Ashman has developed a passion for “Upcycled Art” where she recycles items to create unique repurposed pieces. She completed a collection called: “Fiwi Connection,” for the annual KOTE art festival. Her upcycled art include painted wine bottles, mixed media works with computer parts, jewellery and stones. She also conducts art sessions dubbed: “Paint with Merlot,” where she teaches short art sessions allowing the participants to paint on wine bottles or canvas while sipping on a glass of wine. This was featured on TVJ—Smile Jamaica in January 2016. She also offers creative workshops, classes and session that motivates other using art and creativity as a platform. Shawn is also a Director of Information Communication Technology in Kingston Jamaica, (full-time) and an avid 5k athlete. Art is truly her passion and she brands her art as “Creativity Unimagined” and hopes to send positive, inspirational and motivating messages through her work worldwide. Its her hope to that this book will inspire persons to live their best lives and colour outside of the lines to make their dream come through.
